MISS La Casa group
Amy MacDonald is a MISS Foundation group facilitator at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran
Church. This group is a Christian support group that provides support to parents who’ve
lost a baby or a young child. Amy felt compelled to start a support group after the
stillborn death of her son, Caleb John. She was able to do this with the help and
training of the MISS Foundation. Amy has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a
Master’s Degree in Education. Her professional background is in social work and education.
Amy and her husband Tim have three boys-- two living children and one angel in
heaven. They were also foster parents to a beautiful little girl for 1 ½ years.
Shortly after their foster daughter returned to her birth parents and after several
years of infertility, Amy became pregnant with their first child, Trevor. Ten months
after Trevor was born, she became pregnant again. Sadly, at 18 weeks, they learned
that their sweet baby had trisomy 21 and as a result, a severe heart defect. Though
they prayed for a miracle, their son, Caleb John, was stillborn on July 30, 2004. The
next year was one of great sadness, pain, and grief. Amy sought comfort through a
local grief support group. And though Caleb would never, ever be replaced, Amy’s heart
still ached for another child. Exactly one year later, they adopted their son Jeremy.
Amy is thankful for the support group that helped her through her grief process.
She became a facilitator to support others who are traveling this same sad journey.
She believes that reaching out to help others is a way to honor and remember her
precious baby, Caleb, who died too soon.
