Facilitator, Families Affected by Fatal Drownings, Phoenix Arizona

Asenda Nicolosi Hi, my name is Asena Nicolosi and I am the mother of my beautiful Binky baby, Mya. Mya continues to be the center of my world and my true inspiration. I lost Mya on February 20, 2001 only four days after her 2nd Birthday to drowning in her Grandfather's pool. I was attending nursing school at the time and have since graduated with my degree in Nursing and now working as an RN in a local Phoenix hospital in the Cardiac unit or Telemetry.

When I am not working, I am volunteering, and trying to educate families on how quickly drownings can happen to loving and competent parents. We have started Phoenix's first drowning support group for families affected by child drowning. I also volunteer with the Phoenix Fire department's Water Safety Task Force, Water Watchers, and also a member of the Drowning Coalition of Central Arizona.

Volunteering for MISS and these other wonderful organizations helps me keep my daughter's memory alive. I am honored to give back to an organization that has given me so much.

Asena
Proud Mimi of Mya
