Facilitator, Special Needs Loss Group and HOPE Mentor

Dana is a co-facilitator for our support group for families experiencing the death of a child with special needs. She is on the committee for our annual Children’s Memorial Golf Tournament, and assists Ms. Cacciatore with special projects.

Dana has a bachelor’s degree in education, is a licensed practical nurse, and is working towards a Master’s degree in social work at Arizona State University at the west campus. She is currently working with families of children with disabilities doing case management for the Division of Developmental Disabilities.

Dana first met Joanne Cacciatore in 1999 during a hospital workshop on providing compassionate care to families following the stillbirth of their infant. Much to her surprise, she called on MISS the next spring when faced with the fatal diagnosis of her own unborn child. When her daughter unexpectedly survived for 3 ½ years, the journey began for Dana and her family.

Dana hopes to help other families in similar situations through her efforts with the MISS Foundation.

When not caring for her surviving son and his many activities, Dana enjoys scrapbooking, racquetball, and yoga. She also volunteers with Raising Special Kids, Donor Network of Arizona, and the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation.
