Facilitator - Attica, Ohio

Jaimie Beamer is a facilitator for the Attica Chapter of the MISS foundation.

On February 2, 2000, Jaimie and her husband, Ed, experienced the death of their first child, Keegan.  Keegan was born at 5 months gestation after weeks of complications.  Being young and naive they were unaware of the impact that Keegan and his death would have on their lives.

Devastated by his death, Jaimie searched for a local support group for parents dealing with the loss of a child, only to discover that none existed in the area.  Struggling with Keegans' death, Jaimie continued her search on-line and came across the MISS web-site.   The help she received from MISS was invaluable to her recovery.

It soon became clear to Jaimie that she needed to do something to honor Keegan’s memory and help others understand how important he is to his parents.  As a result, Keegan's Kindness Project was initiated. They are pleased to report that they are entering the fourth year. They collect gently used infant and toddler blankets and sleepers to donate to the Heartbeat organization in Seneca County.  This organization helps young women with unexpected pregnancies. To date they have been able to donate over 550 items.

Even though Jaimie felt Keegan’s Kindness Project was good, something kept bringing her back to the thought of a local support group.  Time passed.  Community members that had suffered a loss started to turn to Jaimie for support, again confirming the need for a local support group.  It was then, when the importance of the need brought her to take action and turn the idea into reality.  It wasn't until later that Jaimie realized that the "something" that kept bringing her back was Keegan.  She  truly believes that you should never put anything past a determined child with wings. Jaimie said he truly is the one that is helping her help others.

Jaimie and Ed live in Attica, Ohio.  They have three children, a 3 1/2 year old daughter, Mallory , a 11 month old son, Korbin and Keegan , who just happens to have wings.

Jamie enjoys scrapbooking, drawing, collecting Longaberger baskets and spending time with her family.
