Kristen Jared"Our Story" - My husband, Andrew, and I went to the hospital Thursday, September 20, 2001 to deliver our first baby. I was 15 days overdue and was to be induced at 5 a.m. After laboring all night and morning and having pitocin at 8 a.m., our baby's heartbeat was lost at 12:04. There was much chaos, my water was broken, but no heartbeat. Emily Caitlin Jared was delivered by emergency C-section at 12:35 p.m. She was revived, but suffered nearly total brain damage. She lived in the NICU for 14 days, until October 4, 2001, when she went to Heaven. There are simply no words for the blessings and beauty of Emily, and I thank God for her everyday.

Andy and I are grateful to be Emily's parents and to have witnessed the profound effect her life has had on us, and the people around us. She has taught us so much about love, life, and humanity, and it is our promise to do as much as we can in her name, to honor her, and help others around us.

We prayed for and welcomed the safe arrival of Emily's sister Sarah Elizabeth, on May 27, 2003. She has brought us great hope and joy. I am a third grade teacher, a job I have loved for 16 years. Andrew and I both grew up in Southern California, and live in the San Gabriel Valley. I look forward to working together and thank you again for your help and support.
It has meant so very much to me.

Honoring our babies with love,
Kristin Jared
