Advisory Board Member
Sarah Kye Price has worked as a grief and bereavement
counselor throughout her professional career. Currently,
she is Project Director of the Women's Wellness Initiative of Missouri
Bootheel Healthy Start, which provides preventative mental health
services to women in a rural area of southeast Missouri that has
historically had an extremely high rate of fetal and infant mortality.
Her past professional experiences include Family Support Coordinator
for SIDS Resources, Inc. in St. Louis, MO and Grief Therapist for
the Life Transitions Center, Inc. in Buffalo, New York where she
practiced clinical social work predominantly with families experiencing
miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant death.
In addition to her clinical work, Sarah is completing her doctoral
studies at George Warren Brown School of Social Work, Washington
University in St. Louis. Her dissertation, anticipated to
be completed in 2005, examines the role of past pregnancy loss
and depressive symptoms on maternal and child interaction and the
mental health of mothers following subsequent pregnancy. Sarah
also serves as an adjunct faculty and advisor to MSW students at
Washington University. She anticipates a teaching
and research career continuing to focus on the unique needs of
women and families who experience pregnancy loss and/or infant
death.
Sarah and her husband, Michael became proud parents to their daughter,
Cassandra in August, 2003. Their family lives in St. Louis, Missouri.
Gardening, music, and theatre are favorite hobbies and interests.
But, above all comes her love and appreciation of the opportunity
to be a Mom, which is definitely a full-time job in itself!
