Shannon Larance

Shannon has embraced the MISS Foundation in honor of her daughter, Tashina, who was stillborn at forty-two weeks on February 10, 1993. The lessons from her loss motivate Shannon's desire to maintain respect for her deeply instilled cultural beliefs, while helping other women and families transcend a life subjected to suffering in silence, as she did for thirteen years. Shannon's awareness and sensitivity to various community needs have developed through her work for the State of Arizona in the Division of Developmental Disabilities. Her dedication to social services has been nurtured through continued advocacy for the rights of women and children. Shannon is currently working towards completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work at ASU West and plans advancing her skills and knowledge through graduate work and increasingly challenging endeavors outside of school.

On a personal note, Shannon is a single parent who deeply enjoys and cares for her three children; Kaloni, Kawoni and Justin and their fascinating dialogue and interesting personalities. When not in the company of her children, Shannon enjoys her friends, reading about a current topic of interest and writing. In addition, numerous life experiences leave her yearning with anticipation towards the next chapter in her life.
