I am a professional freelance writer, and I write newspaper columns highlighting hours of the internet. My columns appear in several newspapers and magazines in the South. Once they’re published in print, I send them out to numerous lists online, and from there, they get sent to newsgroups, other lists, etc.
I’m in the process of writing a column about grief, and I’m going to mention your site (in fact, it’s the first site I am highlighting). It’s a wonderful site — congratulations on a job well done.
The column will be published in my local paper (Hattiesburg American in Hattiesburg, MS) on July 21. I have not control when other papers/magazines publish it. After that time, I’ll be sending it around online.
I just thought you would like to know —

Dear Joanne:
I know you must be very busy and I don’t know whether you will have time to read this. I have just spent an hour going through the MISS pages again and forgive an old grandpa for being so touched by it all! I spent a while putting on the calendar the birth date and ascension date of our granddaughter Eleanor Slade who was with us for 5 weeks in 1994. I read that you too have 5 children like our daughter, Hilary, and son-in-law, Richard,...with their family, the one who soars is Eleanor.
God Bless,
Tom and Sheila Barely, Perth Western Australia
Dear MISS,
I would like to take time to express my enjoyment and an expression of gratitude that I feel when I see the downloads that you send out to us. It’s like a relief in a sense to see pictures of angels and knowing that our daughter is sharing in the realm of angels. It’s a little bit of inner peace for me.
Thank you,
Shaundra
Dear Joanne and MISS:
It has been a little more than a year since our grandson, Aaron, died at the age of 21 days. We all want to thank you for the blessing of your MISS organization. The support and kindness you have shown to me and to our daughter, Laura, is appreciated more than you know. It must take of a lot of courage for your group to deal with this kind of grief on a daily basis.
May God Bless You,
Suzanne Zawicki
Dear Joanne:
I wrote a thousand times and did not send the email. I stumbled across your website while doing research on Kindness. This was part of my job scope and your website had enlightened me as a volunteer and mother as to how precious children are. It has touched my heart and I have been going back to your site everyday for a week.
Though I may not understand or know what a bereaved parent may feel, I would like to start MISS in Singapore. I would like very much to bring a piece of how MISS has supported many parents in America to Singapore.
I have no prior experience in the web or anything. I have done simple counseling in church. That might not count for much, but I hope the enthusiasm I have will make up for it.
I look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks and God Bless.

Dear Joanne and The MISS Foundation:
I received some of your kindness project cards at a support group meeting here at the hospital where my son was born. I think it is a beautiful idea and have had many people ask me for some cards. I would like to thank you for your support through the website. It has helped me tremendously with my grieving. My son, Jack, was 3 1/2 weeks old when he went home to be with the Lord. Jack’s first birthday was June 27th. After visiting your website, I felt planting a tree in honor of his first birthday eased the pain and emptiness that I am sure that day will hold. Thank you again for that idea. Where I used to be somewhat creative, I feel like I have lost my mind. I am so thankful for your website to give me ideas for remembering!
I could never thank you enough. Very truly yours,
Jodi Pedersoli,
Jack’s Mommy
