From the Mail Bag

Dear MISS:

I am a twenty-eight year old mother of three children ages 9, 7 and 5. I am one class away from completing my B.A. In Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Social work. The final class that I am currently enrolled in is entitled "Group Work and Community Organization. This evening is the last night of class. My professor assigned us a project that consists of examining a group of some type. We are to learn about the group, it's goals, it's mission and history. I spent several weeks contemplating on a type of group. I considered Alcoholics Anonymous, Battered Woman's Club, and others. I don't know exactly what brought me to your website. I have never lost a child of my own. I will present to my class this evening the information I obtained from the M.I.S.S. Foundation website. It will be a very touching and wonderful presentation. I just wanted to say thank you so much for all that you have done for others. God Bless you always.

Mrs. Debra L. Fox

Your Organization has helped my friend and her family deal with a very tough time in her life. Thank you for helping her to cope. God Bless You.

Thank God I found your website! Thank God there are others who understand. Your site is indeed a haven, where I'm allowed to grieve as deeply as I need to. I'm 23 weeks pregnant and I found out about that my baby boy has several severe deformities which will cause his death within a few hours of his birth. I love my boy more than my life and I treasure every moment of his life inside me. I do not know how I will survive saying goodbye to him. I was so relieved when, at the end of your essay, about the births of your children, you said that you tell people you have five kids, even though one is not with you. I've wondered how I should answer that question when it comes up. My instinct would be to answer as you did, because as you so rightly pointed out, dead children don't stop being our children, nor do we stop being their parents. I am so relieved and glad to find a place and a community where others understand this. Your website is lovely, and I'm sure that as my son's birth and death approach, I'll be spending a lot of time there. Thanks for the work you've done.

Hi Joanne:

I was looking through a news service that I subscribe to, and I noticed an article in today's edition of the Philippine Daily Inquirer that mentions the Kindness Project. Your reach is truly international. The work you do is so valuable. On behalf of all of those who have lost a child, I say thank you.
